Preventive Care: Staying Ahead of Health Problems
Preventive care is one of the most important parts of primary care. Many serious health conditions including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and certain cancers can develop quietly before causing symptoms. The goal of preventive care is to identify risks early, address them thoughtfully, and help you stay healthier over time.
At Yerli Primary Care, I take a personalized approach to prevention. We review your age, medical history, family history, lifestyle, medications, blood pressure, weight, lab results, vaccination history, and cancer screening needs.
Evidence-based preventive care may include:
- Blood pressure screening
- Diabetes and prediabetes screening
- Cholesterol and cardiovascular risk assessment
- Breast, cervical, colon, and lung cancer screening when appropriate
- Vaccination review and updates
- Screening for depression, tobacco use, alcohol use, and other health risks
- Counseling on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress, and long-term health goals
Prevention is not the same for everyone. A healthy 30-year-old, a person with a strong family history of heart disease, and a patient with pre-diabetes may all need different levels of screening and follow-up.
My goal is to help you understand what screenings you need, why they matter, and how to make decisions that fit your life.
